I’ve decided to rename the column as I don’t always review matches or publish on Fridays… so welcome to The Morrison Review.
Favorite matches are like old friends. You may not see them often and over time, you may start to forget why you like them, but the instant you reconnect, you suddenly remember why you love them.
That’s how I feel about Miz and Morrison’s WWE Falls Count Anywhere Championship match from first Raw of 2011. I haven’t watched it in about a year, but from the second Justin Roberts began the ring introductions, I felt the same sense of excitement and anticipation that I felt the first time I watched this match. As the match unfolded and emotion of their rivalry was on full display, those feelings only increased.
I remembered how amazing Morrison’s performance was, from the beginning when he dove off the WWE sign on the ramp to the final Starship Pain through the table. JoMo was great as the determined challenger. Miz was a brilliant cocky heel champion and Riley was his perfect self-sacrificing sidekick. Add Miz and Morrison’s two year old rivalry and it’s the perfect combination for an exciting title match.
