The wwe website posted their top 25 matches of 2009. John Morrison was in three of them.
Number 20 was Jeff Hardy vs. John Morrison for the World Heavyweight Championship and wwe wrote:

Jim Ross described Jeff Hardy’s World Heavyweight Championship defense against John Morrison perfectly “Competitive, physically demanding and exhausting”. Taking place on SmackDown! just days after the Charismatic Enigma captured the title from CM Punk, the match was a showcase of two young talents working at the peak of their physical abilities. In the end, the high-flying Hardy prevailed after crushing the Friday Night Delight with a Twist Of Fate followed up by a Swanton Bomb, but the action didn’t stop there. Disappointed about losing the title at Night Of Champions, CM Punk assaulted Hardy, humiliating the champion after his stellar match.

Next, at #17, entitled Legends Of The Fall, with Dolph Zigglar, wwe.com wrote:

After several breathtaking back-and-forth battles, Intercontinental Champion John Morrison and Dolph Ziggler finally settled the score on their heated rivalry once and for all on SmackDown on Nov. 20 from Philadelphia. Fighting through a major rib injury, the always-exciting Morrison heroically rallied back to overcome Ziggler in a 2-out-of-3 Falls Match to retain his gold. Despite another impressive effort from his confident challenger, The Guru of Greatness closed the door on another hard-fought battle with Starship Pain.

And finally, at #8 entitled Golden Guru with Rey Mysterio, wwe.com wrote:

You can’t call yourself the Guru of Greatness without doing something special. For John Morrison, a chance at greatness came on the Sept. 4 edition of SmackDown when he stepped into the ring with Rey Mysterio. With the masked marvel’s Intercontinental Championship on the line, the two Superstars put on an athletic, high-flying clinic that tore the house down. Morrison took advantage of his golden opportunity, winning the Intercontinental Title and solidifying his position as one of the major players in WWE.
