MNM made their debut on what was also the debut of Carlito’s Cabana in April of 2005.

Talk about making an entrance…

It was both amazing and disappointing. When you see how great Mercury, Nitro and Melina were as a group, what is so disappointing is how WWE nowadays places such little emphasis on the tag-team division.

MNM were in my opinion one of the last great ‘heel’ tags that bridged the ‘attitude’ era into what WWE is now calling the ‘reality’ era. Their flashy, over-the-top entrance combined with amazing moves, (Still dig “The Snapshot” to this day) has me missing John not being on TV on a regular basis.

One of the only things that is so frustrating about MNM being on WWE is that John really didn’t talk that much at all. Understandably, Melina was their manager and mouthpiece and to her credit was wonderful in this role. I just wish we heard more from him then we did.

John was actually (If you can, check out Colt Cabana’s recent podcast he did with John to learn more about this) behind a lot of what you see in MNM especially their early promo work in OVW. So after learning this and seeing this again, I’m at a loss like many as so why WWE never let him break their glass ceiling.

Here is MNM debuting on Carlito’s Cabana, they arrive at the 8:19 mark, Melina does most of the talking however, when John does talk and you can hear both he and Joey Mercury in the background, that dry, sharp humor comes through, for only for a bit:

2nd promo is one where John DOES speak, if only for a few lines. (Sigh…I wanted more! This was classic!) I like this promo because even though the first one established them as a heel group, for people who happened to have missed that, all three of them effectively cement that in this segment. Enjoy!
