Exclusive: John Morrison Talks WWE, Acting, Future & more

I recently did a mini Q&A with John Morrison for the site’s 4 year anniversary a week ago from today. All of the questions on here were asked from followers on our twiiter account. Here are the questions & his answers:

Question 1.) A moment in WWE that’s made you laugh hard?
Answer: Filming the dirt sheet with Miz always made me laugh, practicing stupid accidents in the car was a great way to pass time on long drives.

Question 2.) How is your acting career going?
Answer: My acting career is great, I feel like I’m growing a lot as an entertainer- lately, with Boone the bounty Hunter, ghost puncher, and some of the other projects I’ve been doing, I feel like I’ve hit my sweet spot as an action comedy actor.

Question 3.) Are you enjoying being a movie star?
Answer: Lovin’ it.

Question 4.) Do you know the release dates of the movies you filmed? Will they be on DVD?
Answer: Not yet-

Question 5.) Do you keep up with WWE today?
Answer: Totally- I watch whenever I’m free.

Question 6.) Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Answer: Telling the stories I want to tell with the resources to do them justice…and living on a beach, surfing a lot.

Question 7.) If there is one person you could face that you haven’t, who would it be & why?
Answer: I get asked this question a lot, and change the answer all time… Hogan- because as a kid I was a hulkamaniac.

Question 8.) Do you have a favorite music band?
Answer: Benn listening to Tijuana Panthers on the road trip I’m on right now… Good Local LA band- surfer rock type vibe…

Question 9.) Is there a type of acting role you’d like to get into?
Answer: I’d love to play Vladimir in an action Sci Fi version of Waiting For Godot… I think lots of Beckett’s plays would work well set in space.

Question 10.) What do you love most about acting?
Answer: Collaborating with others creatively to tell crazy stories.

Question 11.) Are you ever going to update your Twitter profile picture?
Answer: Definitely maybe.

Question 12.) What is your New Years Resolution?
Answer: (Continue to) enjoy my journey.

Question 13.)Do you have a most embarassing moment in WWE, or from any company, while you were wrestling?
Answer: (I) did a backflip one time before a show when I was first getting started at OVW. Somehow managed to rip off my Break-away pants mid-flip accidentally- then landed on my face with no pants. Everyone had a good laugh at that one.

I also asked him about a WWE return, but he can’t say when he’ll be returning. I hope it’s soon though!

i have a ? for you morrison im one of your fans and if you will ever return to wwe

  • Amass on January 10th, 2014 says:

JoMo…while it’s great that youv’e done so much since your departure from WWE, the fact of the matter is it feels like its been forever since we’ve seen you on TV. Remember why we are fans of you. While for you, its been little more than 2 years and probably feels like just yesterday that you were in the ring….for WWE fans (especially those with their famous short attention span) its like a lifetime. So much has happened since youve been gone (not all good). Bottom line is that I can imagine fans are beginning to forget you and there are plenty of guys in and coming up ready to take your spot (Seth Rollins for one). With only 1 World Title now, your chances to grab that brass ring are growing slimmer and the line is longer. I say this as a fan who wants to see you reach the top of the food chain and concerned my favorite wrestler since HBK will now never get there. I guess all I can is that its decision time for you and it has to be now. WWE Full time or retirement and doing your own thing. Any longer and I would say its not worth coming back to be thrown to the midcard again which is a waste of your talent. And please, dont go to TNA – its too hard to watch.

  • Swackback on January 29th, 2014 says:

Well said, Amass. Far be it from me, a lowly stoner and pro-wrestling fan to give The Shaman of Sexy (hailing from the Palace of Wisdom, no less) career advice, but I am getting a little concerned.

As far as it goes, I grew up with the Attitude Era. I’m one of the obnoxious snots that boos John Cena for just being John Cena (though I find the ‘you can’t wrestle’ chants to be deplorable). That said, I still think that John Morrison and The Miz would make MUCH better Tag Team Champions than the the Rhodes Brothers or New Age Outlaws, as entertaining as they are.

With all the recent, somewhat underwhelming returns (except for maybe Sheamus), and with the unification of titles, Amass has a very good point. Consider Daniel Bryan. Even with all the fan support and hype, with all the talent he has, even he is finding trouble getting a legitimate title shot. John Morrison is my favorite wrestler of at least the past 10 years, but at this late stage I don’t know that WWE can/will be willing to give you the solid push you deserve, even with a hyped up return.

So many of the best wrestlers today are undersold. Kofi Kingston, Dolph Ziggler, The Miz and Drew McIntyre immediately come to mind, all of whom I believe you had great rivalries with. But with newer guys who aren’t exactly slouches like The Usos, The Wyatt Family, The Shield and Xavier Woods coming up, it makes me fearful that even should you return, it may be a long, long road to the top. As much as I’d love to hear “Ain’t No Make Believe” blasted over the speakers as The Miz is being surrounded by The Shield or the Wyatts, I wouldn’t want your return to be wasted.

Seconded, don’t go to TNA. I’d honestly rather you see as a commentator than on that show. No offense to the fine folks at TNA.
