It’s been said that good friends make better enemies. I would say this is certainly true with real-life friends The Miz and John Morrison. They first met as in-ring rivals and were occasional partners before becoming a dedicated tag team. Together, Miz and Morrison created a dynasty and left a legacy as one of the best WWE tag teams of the 2000’s via their WWE.com show, The Dirt Sheet, and the amazing chemistry they had in the ring.
After their split, they renewed their feud. It’s become one of the longest and most interesting in WWE history. I think it’s because they both so entertaining every time they interact. When they are together, they seem to bring out the best in each other, both on the mic and in the ring. It’s a trait seen in other famous pairings such as HBK and HHH and Edge and Christian.1
Unfortunately, the WWE doesn’t recognize their whole history. They focus on their tag team a bit and everything that occurred after they broke up, but seem to forget Miz and Morrison also had a feud before teaming together. I think their entire rivalry is interesting, because you really get a sense of how evenly matched they are and how much their careers are intertwined. Also, you get a sense of how the feud itself changed over time. So, I’ve decided to document it.2

On October 3, 1979 a star was born. John Randall Hennigan. A.K.A John Morrison. Living my life through his career from 2005-2011. John Morrison entertained as well as enlightened me, as I watched him in the ring doing his fancy moves whether it was starship pain or a drop kick from the top rope, he always did something different. This mulit talented super star from California, is funny smart, charismatic, kind and down to earth, meeting him in person was a dream come true. On October 3rd, 2009, that’s right, I met my idol on his 30th B-Day. I met him in Newark, New Jersey. I was the first on line to meet him. He talked to me for a good ten minutes, well it felt that long. Talking with him was like hanging out with a friend i didn’t see for a while, so down to earth, I kinda forgot he was this superstar wrestler. He made me feel comfortable even tho I felt like passing out from all the excitement. John Morrison truly changed my life. He inspired me to get in shape and eating healthy. So far I lost 70lbs. Because of you John Hennigan, I met so many amazing people, you brought together JoMoSapiens from all over the world. Thank you Thank you Thank you. The host Jeff is introduced and welcomes us. John is out first with his tag team partner. Everyone else comes out. The kids are playing for the cool prizes and the Superstars and Divas are playing for cash for the Make-A-Wish foundation. He says they could get slimed for head to toe. They then showed the Brain Drain, which that’s the “only” way out of the studio. Time for level one!
Level 1: Brain Tease
In the end, Team Gail Kim moved on. They didn’t win the whole thing, but he did get a couple prizes. They then got to go down the Brain Drain. End of show.
After winning the third season of WWE Tough Enough, John Morrison has become one of WWE’s top superstars.
Even with all the success, “The Guru of Greatness” is still looking for his first WWE championship, currently held by his former tag team championship partner The Miz.
The Los Angeles resident has used this hunger as motivation to work harder and tweak his persona in a more serious direction.
“I think the main reason people take me more seriously now is my beard,” Morrison joked.
