Johnny Mundo was recently interviewed by Scott Fishman of Channel Guide Magazine. They talked about Lucha Underground Season 2, Ultimate Lucha Dos, Taya & much more. Below is a portion of it-

From entrance to in-ring style, Johnny Mundo is the very definition of flash on Lucha Underground.

And during season two of the series the performer found a perfect female counterpart in Taya. The duo has complimented each other quite well, feather boots and all.

“It’s been fun to collaborate with someone who has this ability to roll with the punches and improve and go with the flow. She is amazing,” Mundo said, leading up to Lucha Underground’s Ultima Lucha Dos 8 p.m. Wednesdays on El Rey Network.

“It’s fun to work with her. We crack up the whole time and are having a good time. I think that is why it’s so fun to watch because it translates to the fans that see we have a passion for what we do. We started wearing matching gear. I believe that aspect of sports entertainment can show the alignment of characters. I have been having a blast. She is super talented. I’m lucky to be paired with her. I hope everyone keeps watching because the direction we are taking I think is going to be very interesting.”

In the video above, Prince Puma discusses his hour long iron man match that took place on the June 16th episode of Lucha Underground with Johnny Mundo. Here is what he said about Johnny Mundo, courtesy of Wrestling Inc-

“It was quite a match,” Puma said. “It’s not your general Iron Man match. Although we did wrestle for an hour, you don’t get the whole match at once. You get the commercial breaks, the little vignettes, the little pieces that make Lucha Underground really cool. But you get good wrestling, which is provided by me.”

He discusses much more in the interview, which can be viewed above. Also, if you haven’t checked out the match, definitely do so. It was awesome!

Here are last night’s Lucha Underground results! What a great main event between Alberto El Patron and Mundo!

Alberto El Patron vs. Johnny Mundo

El Patron is over huge. The two trade holds early on, but reach a stalemate. Patron is using some dirty tactics, but the crowd still loves him. Mundo clotheslines AEP off of a missed moonsault and sets up a springboard kick for two.

Mundo is knocked outside and AEP follows him with a huge suicide dive onto the stairs and guardrail and everything else in sight. The two trade punches in the ring until Patron hits a clothesline and tilt-a-whirl backbreaker.

Mundo sends AEP outside this time and hits a dive. He tosses Patron into every guardrail in the arena, but when he gets back in the ring, eats a top rope reverse superplex for two.

Patron calls for the armbar, but a huge series of reversals result in nearfalls. Mundo connects with his big knee and Starship Pain, but Patron grabs the rope. AEP grabs an armbar out of nowhere, but Mundo gets to the ropes.

A Mundo double stomp gets a two count, and he can’t believe it. Patron lands a giant superkick for the pin.

Winner: Alberto El Patron via pinfall (superkick)

Here are the results from last night’s Amazing episode of Lucha Underground!

Trios Championship Tournament
Texano Jr, Cage, King Cuerno vs. Prince Puma, Hernandez & Johnny Mundo

Hernandez and Cuerno start out, with Hernandez using his power advantage to embarrass Cuerno. Texano tags in, but gets abused by the kicks of Johnny Mundo, but manages to kick out at just two.

Puma is tagged in but gets worked over, as the cameras show what looks to be Shawn Daivari at ringside. Hernandez comes in and clean house, and this match is anarchy. Mundo is the next guy to clear the ring, but Texano hits a spinebuster for two.

Texano locks on a single leg crab on Mundo and tags in Cuerno, who goes to work on Mundo. The heels are making quick tags in and out, and Cuerno accidentally kicks Cage as Prince Puma gets tagged in and dominates the field. Hernandez also hits a huge dive. Mundo and Puma follow suit.

It’s an all out war in the ring, as everyone takes turns hitting a corner move in a really cool spot. Texano is lurking outside with the bullrope, and clocks Mundo with it. Cuerno hits Thrill of the Hunt on Puma for the win.

Winners: King Cuerno, Cage & Texano Jr via pinfall (Thrill of the Hunt)

Even though Johnny Mundo wasn’t actually in action, he WAS on the show.  Here’s this week Lucha Underground results. (What an awesome episode this was!).

Dario Cuerto is holding a Trios tournament and tells Lucha Underground  World Champion, Prince Puma to find two opponents for his match next week. Cuerto also tells Puma that he will be going against King Cuerno for the LU World Title this week.

In a filmed segment, Konnan is in the gym with Prince Puma and says he wants Hernandez to be on their trios team, so they need to find one more guy. Johnny Mundo shows up and says he’s the third guy. Konnan isn’t happy.

Lucha Underground World Title
Prince Puma (c) (w/ Konnan) vs. King Cuerno (w/ Cage & Texano)

Cage & Texano join Cuerno, so there’s one of your trios teams. Cuerno goes to work on the arm of Puma. He gets bounced outside and Puma tries to dive on all three but he gets caught and fed to Cuerno for a neckbreaker. Hernandez and Mundo come to make the save, but Texano keeps them at bay with his bullrope.

Vampiro hilariously buries Konnan on commentary as Texano and Cage help Cuerno cheat in the corner. Puma gets a second win and takes it to Cuerno with clotheslines and kicks before being sent outside and hit with a huge dive.

Johnny Mundo hits a big dive that sees him somersault kick Texano in the head and land on Cuerno. Cage and Hernandez square off but nothing comes from it. Back inside the ring Cuerno lands a big spinning blue thunder bomb that gets two. A brainbuster can’t finish it either.

Hernandez distracts the ref, and Puma isn’t happy with it. He lands the 630 anyway for the pinfall.

Winner: Prince Puma via pinfall (630) to retain the Lucha Underground World Title

Next Week, The Trios Tournament continues!
